Best First-Dance Pop-Punk & Indie Songs for UK Weddings (2026)

Choosing your first dance song is one of the most personal decisions you’ll make when planning your wedding. If you’re a couple who grew up on pop-punk anthems and indie classics, why not make your first dance as unforgettable as the rest of the night?

At Crash the Wedding – a female-fronted pop-punk & indie wedding band based in the North West UK – we perform high-energy sets full of emo, indie, and rock favourites. We also love slowing things down (or flipping a rock banger into an acoustic ballad) for those intimate first-dance moments.

Here are some of the best first-dance pop-punk and indie songs we perform live that work perfectly for UK weddings:

Indie First-Dance Favourites

  • Arctic Monkeys – Baby I’m Yours

  • Coldplay – Yellow

  • Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars

  • The Killers – Mr Brightside (acoustic arrangement)

  • The 1975 – The Sound

  • The Kooks – Naïve (stripped-back version)

  • The Strokes – Last Nite (slowed intro arrangement)

Pop-Punk & Alt-Rock Choices

  • Paramore – Still Into You

  • Blink-182 – All the Small Things (acoustic intro → full band lift)

  • Fall Out Boy – Sugar, We’re Goin Down

  • Sum 41 – In Too Deep (acoustic ballad arrangement possible)

  • Avril Lavigne – Sk8er Boi (fun, upbeat first dance for couples who don’t want “slow”)

  • Good Charlotte – The Anthem (alternative, high-energy choice)

Acoustic / Romantic Options from Our Setlist

  • Jason Mraz – I’m Yours

  • Scouting for Girls – She’s So Lovely

  • Kings of Leon – Use Somebody (acoustic)

Why These Songs Work

  • They’re instantly recognisable, so your guests will sing along.

  • Many have romantic lyrics hidden beneath the riffs, making them surprisingly wedding-friendly.

  • We can adapt arrangements – slowing down high-energy songs for a tender first-dance version, then kicking into the full band for the party. Making It Yours

At Crash the Wedding, we’re happy to:

  • Learn your chosen first-dance song (if it fits our style and lineup).

  • Offer a custom acoustic arrangement before the full set explodes into party mode.

  • Provide DJ service after the live sets to keep the music seamless.
